Radio Lear is Leicester Emergent Arts Radio: a shared space for experimental music, sound art, field recordings, spoken word and creative imagination. We’re already broadcasting on DAB and online. Your support helps keep that space open and the signal on air.

Independent Funding, Creative Freedom
Regular support from members gives Radio Lear a firmer foundation beyond individual grants and short-term projects. It helps us develop a station shaped by the people who listen and contribute, with room for artistic curiosity, thoughtful disagreement and a wider range of viewpoints.

Radio Lear Contributors’ Circle — £5 A Month
Join a circle of listeners and makers who help sustain Radio Lear’s evolving creative life. You can support the station simply by listening, or bring a recording, a voice, a sound experiment or an idea that hasn’t yet found its form.
Membership offers a route to submit work for broadcast consideration, connect with other contributors and receive practical editorial guidance on preparing contributions. Your monthly support helps meet the costs that keep the station broadcasting.
Radio Lear Creative Collaborator — £10 A Month
For artists, writers, musicians and curious sound-makers who want to develop proposals and contribute to collaborative broadcasts.
Propose themes, texts and ideas for new sound pieces; submit your own work; and explore projects that bring different recordings, voices and approaches together. Editorial guidance helps shape proposals and prepare contributions for broadcast.
Membership supports this creative relationship. Bespoke commissions, additional production work, rights, budgets and delivery arrangements are agreed separately according to the resources available.
Radio Lear Creative Partner — For Organisations
Arts organisations, venues, collectives, festivals and cultural groups can establish formal creative links with Radio Lear. Together, we can explore sound assemblies, listening events, soundwalks, artist conversations, residencies and themed broadcasts.
Partnership terms are agreed according to scope. Commissioned events and production are separately planned and priced, with clear arrangements for artist fees, staffing, equipment, permissions and delivery.
Why Membership Uses Decentered Media’s Patreon
Radio Lear is operated by Community Sounds and Stories CIC and supported by Decentered Media, which administers memberships through its established Patreon account.
The account retains a legacy eight per cent platform fee, compared with the ten per cent charged to new creator accounts. This helps more of each contribution reach the work it supports. Payment processing and other applicable charges are additional.
You’ll find a mixture of Radio Lear and Decentered Media activity on the account, including broadcasts, podcasts, blogs and discussions about independent community media. Choose a Radio Lear tier to support the station. Wider Decentered Media memberships support its broader activities.
