Radio Lear Podcast – LCB Sound 2024

The LCB Depot Sound Exhibition in September 2024 is a celebration of audio-related art forms, including music, sound art, radio, and podcasts, focusing on both local and emerging talent from Leicester and beyond. The event showcases work by established sound artists and producers, as well as students from De Montfort University’s Music Technology course.

This episode of the Radio Lear Podcast features Eloïse Bertil, who is a podcast producer and sound creator. Eloïse shares her work Home sweet home, I guess, which is a reflection on the experience of living in shared accommodation in London.

Ross Clement is a Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University, who has created an AI-generated piece that creates an immersive and interactive experience based on AI-generated samples.

Shaun Robert is a music producer, with three tracks featured: Motion, Paradigm, Random.

One highlight of the exhibition is the Shortwave Collective’s “Edge of Transmission”, where visitors can borrow a radio and explore transmissions around the LCB Depot and Leicester’s Cultural Quarter. Various workshops, gigs, and performances are scheduled throughout the event, spanning from August 30 to September 20, with venues like the Phoenix and The Exchange Bar hosting activities.

The event includes:

  • Musical performances, such as jazz, indie, and experimental music nights.
  • Workshops on radio transmission and sound art.
  • Interactive family days exploring sound and music creation.

The exhibition invites musicians from Leicester to submit their tracks for a playlist and features artists like Dead Hand, Seth Guy, Lucy Dearlove, and many more. The event aims to immerse the audience in a creative, audio-centric experience across different forms and genres.
